PSM History
Brand Story
During 1931, in the town of Willenhall, Britain, Jack Tildesley established Precision Screw Manufacturing, a company which began manufacturing turned parts for the lock and screw industries Through 1950. PSM transitioned into a manufacturing leader with the design and patent of the Anchor® Rivet Bush. The Anchor® Rivet Bush was our first proprietary standard fastener range, and was soon expanded to include closed-end, miniature, stand-off, and locking versions. Shortly after, PSM introduced a unique Self-Clinching range of sheet metal fasteners evolving PSM from being a manufacturer of turned parts to an innovator of new fastening technologies.
PSM International’s significant innovative design of the Sonic-Lok® insert, was created for use into plastic materials and is still the most commonly used Inserts For Plastics. PSM's range soon expanded to include a variety of products for both thermoplastic and thermo-setting plastics. PSM's manufacturing capabilities grew to machining, cold forming, metal deformation, plastic molding, thread-lock processing, and metal pressing. In addition, PSM began expanding operations and shortly after became a worldwide trusted brand. Due to our expanding global footprint, the company name transitioned from Precision Screw Manufacturing to PSM International.
PSM continues to be the leading innovator of new fastening technologies. During 2012, PSM designed and patented TRI-STEP®, a unique three stepped threaded insert and mating hole combination, designed for heat or ultrasonic installation into thermoplastic materials. The first of its kind, TRI-STEP® provides high performance, excellent location, reduced insertion time and a low in-place cost.
